Tiger Roo & Cocoa Chanel - A Love Story Times Ten!

Meet Tiger Roo and Cocoa Chanel, proud parents of the 10 beautiful brindle boxer puppies.

WE NO LONGER HAVE ANY PUPPIES FOR ADOPTION -
WE FOUND LOVING HOMES FOR EVERYONE! THANKS BE TO GOD!!

More about Momma and PawPaw:

Tiger Roo and Cocoa Chanel were adopted September 2015 from a very nice family who lacked the yard or time to give Tiger and Cocoa the life they planned to give them. We are so grateful to that family for allowing us to adopt this beautiful couple, it was an act of love, truly.

They spent most of their time pre-adoption in their crate together. They are super bonded to each other - it's beautiful to see, but they have taken longer than we'd have hoped to adapt to having a pack larger than two. We think some of their behavior is that they were stunted on their social development and have been sprinting through doggie teenage issues. It's all good - we love them, even though it sometimes it seems like they're going through the puppy version of the terrible twos. LOL - they'll catch up and they are wonderful family dogs so far. They are very loving with each other and people (not so much with other dogs and strangers, but we're working on this, and will have more time for training once all the puppies are adopted). Little by little they've been learning commands and getting socialized, and they've even learned to sleep away from each other and outside of their crate. They are not quite as well trained as we're used to our boxers being, but they are very smart, with great potential, have been EXCELLENT with our two kids (6 years and 3 years old) and are very affectionate.

While Tiger and Cocoa's new Veterinarian declares they are in excellent health overall, the two dogs had not been getting their annual vaccinations or been on heart worm preventative for about 2 years according to their first family. Once adopted, we quickly incurred over $650 in vet expenses for exams, shots, heart worm medication, flea treatment and a few minor issues that needed to be treated. We also found they were both positive for heart worms, which our vet recommended we treat first (since we couldn't afford to cover the 1st bill, plus ~$1000 for spay & neuter, plus ~$900 in heart worm 1st and 2nd round treatments
all at once). Our plan was to tackle one issue at a time. They were completing the first round of heart worm treatment, and right in the middle of the busiest time of the year, our sweet Cocoa Chanel went into heat! Aye! This was not part of our adoption & rehabilitation plan!

"Why did you take my huevos?"

We didn't have any choice at that point, so we paid to have Tiger's neuter procedure moved up and kept them apart for a few days. What we've learned since then, and I've had spayed and neutered dogs my entire life, is that removing the testes does not remove all the sperm from the male's body, and that female dogs tend to be EXTREMELY fertile (well at least Cocoa Chanel is!). Our ignorance on this aspect of biology resulted in a mid-November pregnancy.

This is her 4th litter!! We know, that's NUTS. We REALLY did not want her to go through a 4th litter before her 4th birthday, it's terrible, we thought we did everything we needed to do to avoid the pregnancy. In the end, it may not have been our plan, but we are believers that this is God's plan. So we made sure to provide her with the best neonatal care we could afford. She ate and was pampered like a Queen.

Towards the end of the pregnancy, she ate and ate, and we imagined, she was just miserable. She got so big!!
"He doesn't even know..."  2 Days before delivery.
Poor Momma! 1 Day before delivery!

"GET THEM OUT OF ME!" A few hours before she started labor, January 9th, 201

January 13th Vet Visit , weighed in ave. 9 oz
Cocoa Chanel gave birth to 2 girls and 9 boys beginning late night January 9th, but most of them were born on Saturday, January 10th, 2016. We lost one of our little girls shortly after birth, it was a sad loss, and we've learned it's actually quite normal. Still so sad, and all the love and care we've provided to Tiger, Cocoa and the rest of the 10 boxer babies is dedicated to our fragile, sweet, pretty little Ruby Slippers, who we loved very much even though we new her for such a short time.

The puppies have been to the vet twice, on January 13th for physical exams, tail docking and duke claw removals. They went on February 23rd for their 6 weeks shots and will be headed in again March 14th & 15th for their 9 week boosters.

They're currently still eating about 3 times a day, and Momma allows them to have a quick nursing here and there. We're feeding them from Purina Puppy Chow Natural or Purina Puppy Chow Healthy Morsels (we buy both bags depending on which coupons we have on hand). Usually at breakfast get a mixture of dry food with canned Pedigree Puppy chopped beef & chicken.
PawPaw meeting his babies for the first time.

At both visits so far, our Vetrinarian says the puppies continue to appear to be in fantastic health and weight. All boxers are at risk for several types of issues and though Momma and PawPaw have not shown signs of heart conditions, cancer or hip displasia, we can only vouch for the condition that the puppies are currently in. With the exception of a scare with Tiger II, "Sancho" (read more on his puppy profile). They seem to be happy, playful normal puppies to us and our Vet!

Thank you for reading our post, we're happy to answer any questions you may have about our beautiful boxers and their lives so far. We hope you'll consider adopting a puppy. Please take a look at the puppy profiles and fill out an adoption application form. We'd love to find the best boxer baby for you!
